MILKCOOP is an approved NGO dedicated for Strong Civil Society, Gender Equality, Sustainable Livelihood, Climate Change & Resilience, Peace building & Reconciliation, Food Security & Sovereignty, Human & Child Rights and Advocacy for the disadvantaged community in Southern Sri Lanka
MILKCOOP is a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) in Deniyaya of Southern Sri Lanka dedicated to empower most disadvantaged and social excluded community with sustainable livelihood through improving their knowledge and skills without ethnic ,religious and gender diverse. It cater to rural and plantation community in vulnerability due to the lack proper guidance and access to the external resources.
We provide sustainable farming, rights advocacy, and community empowerment services that strengthen families, protect the environment, and ensure food security for a better future.

MILKCOOP dedicates to cater to the marginalized community in this area who are under poverty line with the aim of ending poverty

MILKCOOP‘s one thematic area is sustainable livelihood and it mostly direct to the edible productions that can zero the hunger –organic farming, animal husbandry, mushroom cultivation etc... This system respects to the policy of “garden to plate”

MILKCOOP consists of 2000 members and 85% of them are women engaged in domestic level income sources and MILKCOOP is extending space for women for civic engagements leading to improve the decision making process in the family and society inkling to gender equality

MILKCOOP highly concern in the secure foods and right to food of the community and efforts to expand food availability and food sovereignty increasing knowledge and skills.

MILKCOOP members are mostly engaged in farming and they are in the challenge of climate change. The prevailing adverse weather pattern makes them more vulnerable reducing the yields of the crops expanding invasive pest damages and diseases and natural disasters. Then, MILKCOOP efforts in every hand to increase the farmers’ resilience taking appropriate climate adaptive strategies.

MILKCOOP operates close to high biodiversity hotpot-Singhraja Rain Forest and implement eco- friendly project s –do-no-harm to the environment .All of these collective achievements gain to better life on the land for all the beings.

MILKCOOP consists of multi-ethnic staff and membership and operates in a multi-ethnic and multi-religious area and always pay attention to maintain peace and harmony in the every aspect,
